Trucks have the ability to store data about where they are and how they are working. This includes location, hours of operation, fuel efficiency, maintenance requirements, and more. Telematics refers to accessing this data and transmitting it to someone that needs it. This is common for fleet vehicles, delivery trucks, construction equipment, etc. Furthermore, the ability to track who is in the vehicle, when, where they are located, and what they are doing is also very valuable and can be achieved by using personnel ID badges. Our ID badge readers and data converters can be installed on most telematics systems that are already in vehicles to enable this capability.
The Linkstream DB0-V bridges the gap between RFID readers (traditionally used for building access) and vehicle telematics systems. This solution handles both data and power conversion for easy integration with vehicle telematics and industrial control systems operating on 12 or 24 volts DC. The DB0-V converts the Wiegand protocol used by RFID readers to the RS232 standard compatible with most telematics systems.
HID’S ICLASS SE® RFID Readers are part of an access control platform focused on innovative functionality, support of multiple credential technologies, and establishing trust between devices to prevent compromise. Paired with the DBO-V Converter, a subsystem is created that is perfect for recognizing and tracking driver ID’s or for other industrial tracking applications.
Connect the RFID reader to one port, the controller to the other port, and integration is complete. Most applications require no software integration.
The DB0-V can be ordered with standard firmware or with custom programming to format the data, support special communication protocols, or perform other functions.
The product can be ordered as a housed OEM module only or with wiring harnesses for a complete solution.
