Lollapalooza Goes NFC!
Eric Gregg • August 1, 2014

Tx Systems is proud to be a participant of the Lollapalooza cashless payment initiative. For those who are unfamiliar, this marks the first year that the mega music festival will be utilizing RFID (specifically NFC) wristbands to monitor attendance and make in house purchases this weekend.

Throughout the entire event, guests will wear their wallet on their wrist by uploading cash to their account prior to, or while inside of this event. All of the vendors selling merchandise, food, beverages, etc. will be outfitted with a custom Android Tablet POS system called Best Ring, created by our customer Festival Control Systems in Austin, TX. As the leading US distributor of RFID readers, Tx Systems is supplying Best Ring with all of the card readers for these tablets. Our reader has been integrated by Best Ring into their solution to allow their versatile software/hardware solution the ability to read the wristbands. LOL14_blog_cashlessNEW

The reader we chose for the task is the ACS ACR 122T, USB Dongle reader. The reason we selected this reader is because it is small in size (about the size of a flash drive) and one of the few NFC readers that has an Android driver. ACS has been great in assisting us in this endeavor and they are just as excited as we are to see cashless payment systems taking flight in the US.

More to come on cashless payments systems in future announcements. For more information or to request a evaluation to see if a cashless payment system is right for you, please contact sales@txsystems.com
